About dianaroggenbuckebrown

I am a freelance writer and a passionate animal lover and advocate. I write the 'What's On' column for The Bayswater Buzz and The Ferntree Gully News, as well as writing romance novels. I have recently completed my first Children's picture book and I am hoping to have it published. I have three noisy, cheeky children and a household full of pets that keep me on my toes. I am fortunate enough to have the most amazing family and friends that help keep me sane and grounded. I always look on the positive side of life, for me the glass remains half full.

Oh No!!!

OMG every mother knows that feeling of dread when you realise you have forgotten something very important for your child!!It is a feeling like no other. A sick clenching of the stomach and a feeling of overwhelming nausea.

This weekend my son was supposed to go over to one of his friends place so that they – 5 boys in total, could work on their science project. This was a long weekend and it was chocker block full with stuff on, and yep you guessed it we forgot!! My son just noticed an email from his friend asking where he was, that’s 5 minutes before his bedtime and a day late.

I offered to email the teacher and explain what had happened but he doesn’t want me to do that, he is going to wait till he gets to school tomorrow to face the music. Because thats just the sort of kid that he is. I’m guessing he is not going to be popular and that just breaks my heart.

He is a worrier, he stresses and this is just going to add more worry and more stress.

This is one of those times when you wish you could somehow go back in time and change things, but you can’t.

Another milestone

So my baby turned 17 on Sunday, one more year and he will be officially an adult doing all sorts of adult things, like driving and finishing high school and Yes voting!!

On Monday he received a birthday card in the post from the Victorian Electoral Commission, along with his electoral forms to fill out and return so that he is ready to cast his vote next year.
We celebrated the milestone of 17 with a family lunch at one of his favourite souvlaki restaurants and then mum made him the most amazing chocolate ripple birthday cake. Yum

Built to NOT last

Woke up this morning to find that our fridge has decided to stop working – just one more thing to add to that ever growing long list of things that have gone wrong of late- fortunately we were able to move all the perishable stuff over to the beer fridge in the garage. Now we need to decide if it’s worth getting someone out to see if they can repair it or buy a new one – sometimes repairs are just too costly and let’s be honest nowadays things are not built to last.

It’s the simple pleasures

Because I obviously don’t have enough to do, I decided it would be fun to join the social soup movement and get to have my say on road testing various things.
Social soup is an influential community that loves trying new things.
Being part of the Social Soup community, means you get to be the first to hear about new products and experiences. From wine launches and gym trials to the latest shampoo and pizza. Fellow Soupers are directly involved in shaping the products. Plus, we get to try stuff out before anyone else.

So yesterday my first shipment arrived!! And it is so exciting!! I have been chosen – well I should say that my cat DT, has been chosen, to road test some amazing cat food which is meant to help cats with urinary tract infection.

Before even seeing the contents inside, I was impressed with the box. The inscription on the back brought an instant smile to my face. It is the simple pleasures in life that make it worthwhile.

I don’t know who was more excited DT or I, but I can’t wait to get started!!
