Age is just a number

Tomorrow my husband turns 50 years old!! That’s half a century!! I got to say the kids and I are so excited, hubby not so much so.
50 years is a milestone birthday, and as all milestone birthdays deserves to be celebrated, not once, but a few times. So we are going out tomorrow night for dinner and then we are having family and friends over on Saturday for a little party.
50 is the new 40, at least that’s what I keep telling him. Age is just a number after all!!

Is 50 too old for a career change??????????

My husband has been looking for a job since we got back from our amazing trip to Italy and boy are things so different out there in the job market these days.
After almost thirty years of experience working in the shipping industry he has decided that it is time for a change.
Hereby lies the challenge – what to do now?

There seems to be an endless supply of jobs out there but are any of them suitable for him – I just don’t know!!

So my question to you all is this – is 50 too old to be seeking a career change? I didn’t think so but as the days go by I’m beginning to have my doubts.

My sister got a tattoo

My sister got a tattoo today!!!

That’s one more thing she can now cross off her bucket list!!

She has been planning on getting this tattoo for some time now and the fact that she is only days away from turning 50 has finally convinced her to go ahead with it!! Why not!! Life is short after all!!

Must say it wasn’t anywhere near as bad as I was expecting and my sister was pleasantly surprised that the pain associated with getting her tattoo was bearable. She likened the experience to that of visiting the dentist lol

The tattoo artist was lovely he made my sister feel at ease, he made all of us feel at ease.

The whole experience can only be described as fun, as there was lots of laughing and now my sister has this beautiful tattoo of her gorgeous son’s name, which he in fact paid for as a birthday present to his mother.

Italy, here I come.

Later this year I am going to Italy!! I have been planning this trip with my sister ever since we were teenage girls sharing a bedroom together.

The plan was that we would go when my sister turns 50. Well my sister is turning 50 this year in August,  so our trip has been booked for September. However instead of the girls trip we always imagined, my husband (who is also turning 50 in December ) and my brother, are coming along as well. My motto is and has always been, the more the merrier, so I really can’t wait, this is going to be such a fun trip.
But here’s the problem, I don’t have a current passport and my prospects for getting a new passport for a while have not looked good. I changed my name after I married my husband and took on my husbands name as many people do, but the marriage certificate we were given on our wedding day does not have a registration number and without that I cannot get my passport. My husband is going to pay a visit to  the Births, Deaths and Marriages office and hopefully get a copy of a marriage certificate with an actual registration number on it and maybe then I will be able to finally get my passport and make it to Italy.
Fingers crossed, otherwise it looks like the others will be going without me.
