It’s the simple pleasures

Because I obviously don’t have enough to do, I decided it would be fun to join the social soup movement and get to have my say on road testing various things.
Social soup is an influential community that loves trying new things.
Being part of the Social Soup community, means you get to be the first to hear about new products and experiences. From wine launches and gym trials to the latest shampoo and pizza. Fellow Soupers are directly involved in shaping the products. Plus, we get to try stuff out before anyone else.

So yesterday my first shipment arrived!! And it is so exciting!! I have been chosen – well I should say that my cat DT, has been chosen, to road test some amazing cat food which is meant to help cats with urinary tract infection.

Before even seeing the contents inside, I was impressed with the box. The inscription on the back brought an instant smile to my face. It is the simple pleasures in life that make it worthwhile.

I don’t know who was more excited DT or I, but I can’t wait to get started!!

New Year fizzle

So 2016 hasn’t exactly started off as amazingly as I was hoping, in fact it’s been quite the fizzle.
Bolt, my sisters beautiful dog, that I have blogged about many times, is unwell. Last night NYE, we noticed some swelling in his ear flap and this morning the Vet has confirmed that it is a blood clot and that Bolt would need to be operated on.
Bolt has always had problems with his ears but nothing this extreme – he didn’t appear to be in any pain or discomfort last night, nor this morning but he did start shaking his head vigorously again which according to the vet is what has caused the blood clot in the first place.
For a 13 year old dog surgery of any kind is a big deal, so we are all anxious at the moment, it doesn’t help that Bolt is actually my nephews dog and he is currently overseas.

So to reiterate 2016 has not begun as I had hoped!! Get well Bolt xxx

Funny dogs

My sisters dogs are so funny!! One is so smart and catches on so quickly the other one is bigger, and slower, and not so sharp, but he is such a good boy.
He doesn’t like to get into trouble, he would never purposely do anything wrong, he is just that sort of dog.

Today he had a little accident inside and his reaction when I got there (late I might add because of work ) was just priceless.

He knew he had done something wrong and was so nervous – why I have no idea, ok maybe my sister might scold him but that would be it, anyway as soon as I saw the mess I just ignored it, let them out to relieve themselves and then set about cleaning up.

Nutt was hesitant coming back inside it was only the lure of the treat that made him get past his nerves. Apparently when my sister got home he was still acting all funny. She called to see if I had noticed him acting funny and I told her about the little accident.

Dogs are just like humans, some stress, some sook, and some are just totally oblivious, each one is unique.

Hot cars kill dogs!!

Despite all the media attention and all the warnings it still never ceases to amaze me how silly/blaze/cruel some people can be when it comes to leaving their pets inside a car on a hot over 30 degrees day!!

Today a beautiful little staffy girl was left to overheat inside a car in 30 degrees heat with only 3 fingers of open window!!!

By the time someone spotted her the poor thing was in a fair amount of distress.

Fortunately the owner was inside our building waiting for his son who was at the dentist. My curt PA announcement had him quickly running back to his car. Otherwise my next step would have been to call the police.

Thankfully in this instance the Staffy was ok. Some water and the coolness of an air conditioned environment helped to quickly cool her down.

The owner even thanked me on his way out. I hope that this will be a lesson to him and that he will never do that again. Leaving your dog in the car on a hot day is a criminal offence!!
