Echidna crossing

An echidna crossing the road is not something  you see every day, but in beautiful Belgrave, Echidnas are just part of the beautiful scenery.

Today I was reminded yet again what an absolute joy animals are. After what can only be described as a horrific day yesterday to be able to just pause along with the rest of the traffic and just watch that beautiful little echidna waddle across the road was just so delightful, it lifted my spirits and brought the first genuine smile to my face since yesterday.
No wonder I prefer animals to people, animals make the world a better place, they are genuine and honest.

Cockatoos!! Such a beautiful sight

IMG_1379.JPG
I was greeted with the most beautiful sight this evening when I was coming home in the car from my grocery shopping. Hundreds of sulphur created cockatoos filled the sky creating almost a blanket like effect with their majestic outstretched wings and happy squawks it really was a sight. I tried to take photos but they didn’t turn out well I have googled and found an image which almost replicates what I saw but still not ac beautiful as the real thing.

In Australia the sulphur crested cockatoo is a common sight, as is it’s cousin the little corella , many even consider them pests, but how anyone can think that of these beautiful creatures is beyond me .

High school uniform fitting

My baby girl had her uniform fitting today in preparation for high school next year.

I can’t get over how much she has grown!! Where did the time go? It’s like I have blinked and she has blossomed into the most beautiful young lady.

She tried on two dresses and both were enormous, she is only a little petite girl with the tiniest waist. The dress we settled on will most definitely need to be shortened a fair amount but at least it fit her well.

It’s a funny feeling that I am experiencing today, it’s kind of like pride, excitement , amazement and hint of sorrow all rolled into one.

An evening full of burlesque

Yesterday I went to see our Zumba instructor do her burlesque routine at The Greyhound hotel which is a iconic hotel in St. Kilda. I wasn’t really sure what to expect even though I had seen our instructors routine at Zumba class a few times.

The venue was packed, and there were people of all ages. All the performers had brought along their families and friends to cheer them on and help raise funds for the Beyond Blue foundation, which is an initiative to raise funds for people suffering from anxiety and depression.

It was a two hour show, filled with women of all shapes and sizes celebrating their bodies through self expression. Burlesque dancing is not for everyone, I know that I could never do it, but I really admired those ladies last night, they were so at ease with themselves, each one was unique and beautiful in their own way.

The evening ended with a unique twist, a wedding, between the hostess of the show and her Romeo that she had met online. It was romantic end to a lovely night.
