Another milestone

So my baby turned 17 on Sunday, one more year and he will be officially an adult doing all sorts of adult things, like driving and finishing high school and Yes voting!!

On Monday he received a birthday card in the post from the Victorian Electoral Commission, along with his electoral forms to fill out and return so that he is ready to cast his vote next year.
We celebrated the milestone of 17 with a family lunch at one of his favourite souvlaki restaurants and then mum made him the most amazing chocolate ripple birthday cake. Yum

Age is just a number

Tomorrow my husband turns 50 years old!! That’s half a century!! I got to say the kids and I are so excited, hubby not so much so.
50 years is a milestone birthday, and as all milestone birthdays deserves to be celebrated, not once, but a few times. So we are going out tomorrow night for dinner and then we are having family and friends over on Saturday for a little party.
50 is the new 40, at least that’s what I keep telling him. Age is just a number after all!!

And the celebrations continue

So I am pretty lucky, it’s not every day you get to celebrate your birthday three times!!Once on Monday at work with my co- workers and friends

Once today with my amazing family

And again tomorrow night – which by the way is my actual birthday so we will be going out for dinner with the family again.

46 is no milestone birthday, but every birthday is special. Being another year older means I get to reflect on how thankful I am for everything I have, my children, my family, my pets, my friends.

Bolt’s birthday

Today we celebrated Bolt’s 13th birthday!!

Bolt is my sister’s dog – well actually he is my nephew’s dog – he is a Labrador cross Blue Heeler, a more loving and gentle boy you will never find.

It was a lovely night celebrating a much loved member of our family, there was cake and food and presents all the things typically found at a birthday celebration and of course at the end of the night the birthday boy was exhausted from all the excitement.

Happy Birthday Bolty

April Fools day babies

Well today is the day!! My beautiful babies have now turned 13 years old. I couldn’t have wished for a better April Fools days surprise!! As of today I am the mother of not one, not two, but three teenagers and surprisingly that thought does not scare me as much as it no doubt should.

The things you do for love

Two days before the twins birthday and the only thing they both want is a DS game. How easy is that right? Wrong.

Turns out the game that Harry wants is sold out around the state. After an hour of trying every store in our area and watching his face grow sadder and sadder, we have finally located a copy but it’s like on the other side of town – literally.
Fortunately they have a hold on it for me until
close of business Wednesday afternoon. So looks like I’m going on a little trip.

Happy Birthday Sunshine

Tomorrow is my baby’s birthday!! Well he isn’t a baby anymore I guess, tomorrow he will be sweet sixteen.

I know we all think it and say it, how quickly time passes but it’s so true. I remember everything every little detail. The look on his face when they placed him on my stomach after he was born still attached to the placenta and covered in yucky stuff!

I remember endless hours of just gazing at him in wonder and amazement, how I couldn’t believe that this perfect little person was mine. I remember how hard it was to leave him when I had to return to work, how my desk looked like a shrine to him all covered in his photos. The first tooth, the first steps, that day he tripped and cut his head just above the eye. First day of primary school, I remember crying so much as I drove home that I drove up onto the footpath and ended up slashing the tyre of my car.

High school was next and the horrific start to what was one of the scariest years of my life, and now here we are just about to turn 16, we have just had the first job interviews, tomorrow will be the learners permit driving test.

I could never have imagined how having children could change my life so much. I am so lucky to have been blessed with my three beautiful children, there is nothing I wouldn’t do for them. Tomorrow though it is all about my Georgie the sunshine of my life, so happy birthday baby hope you have a wonderful day and that the year ahead brings all that you desire.

Another year older

Another year older, I would like to be able to say wiser, but somehow I don’t think so, I may be forty five now but I still feel like I did twenty years ago, of course I wish I still looked the same but alas no. I spent the day celebrating my birthday with the people I love most in the world, my family. The sun was shining, everyone was relaxed and happy, there was champagne and nice food, what more could a girl possibly ask for?

I have really been thoroughly spoilt with many beautiful birthday messages and presents from my amazing friends and extended family. My mum outdid herself again and made me the most decadent chocolate birthday cake, unfortunately we were all too full to enjoy it, but I’m sure tomorrow the girls at work will be happy when I take in left over cake to share.

Any excuse for a party

Harry’s soccer coach is turning 50 on the weekend and to celebrate he is going on a child free holiday with his wife to Port Douglas.

The moment I heard that the coach was having a milestone birthday near the end of the soccer season I began planning how the boys could help to make this momentous occasion even more special.

Together with the team manager we arranged to have some photos of the team framed for the boys to present to the coach, and we set about planning a mini surprise birthday party.

Tonight our plans all came together in what can only be described as a great night.

All the boys helped blow up balloons and decorate the table in preparation of the coach’s arrival.

There was lots of cheering and party poppers, lots of food and cake but above all lots of fun.

This has been Harry’s first year of soccer and thanks to the coach and the boys it has been the best experience.

Sport isn’t just about honing skills and playing a game, it’s about making connections and building lifelong friendships.
