Not sure what is going on with the weather at the moment but this pretty much sums it up!!
I feel so sick and miserable. My nose is as red as Rudolph’s from all the blowing, my throat aches and my body feels like I’ve been hit by a truck.
I’m sitting up in bed with my trusty iPad surfing the net and the blogosphere feeling sorry for myself. There is so much I have to do especially tomorrow which is my twins graduation day and honestly I don’t have the energy to do any of it.
My friend just called to discuss last minute preparations for our boys and she suggested I try making myself a warm drink of lemon, honey and whiskey – said it worked wonders for her, she slept like a log. Another friend suggested heating up some Cointreau or Dom Benedictine and adding some honey to that. I’m game to try anything that will help me feel better that’s for sure.
Any other suggestions with or without alcohol???
Yesterday I visited Melbourne’s Ice Bar. For those of you that are not familiar with the Ice bar, let me elaborate. The ice bar is a bar like no other where the temperatures are a freezing 8 degrees below zero. Where everything is made entirely of ice. The seats, the tables, the ice sculptures, the entertaining ice hockey table, even the glasses where the cocktails are served are made of ice.
In order to be able to stand to be inside the ice bar you need to be rugged up in these super warm water proof ponchos, wearing ski gloves and ugg boots.
It was a really fun night, like no other. We had dinner in the quaint little Inuet restaurant next door which was just as lovely, lots of different flavours, nice ambience, and finished off the night at the Lindt chocolate shop sipping on mocha and eating yummy macaroons.
Almost makes you wish the weekend didn’t have to end, doesn’t it?
Winter is my least favourite season of the year. Cold dark nights and wet and windy days are not my idea of fun at all.
This year winter appears to have set in earlier than ever. Technically we have only just embarked on the last month of Autumn, and yet it already feels like hibernation time. In a another life I could totally have been a bear. The whole idea of sleeping through winter appeals to me on so many levels.
Unfortunately most boy sports are actually winter sports, so tonight I will be braving the elements as I sit and wait for my son to finish his soccer training. Once he is finished I will rush him home only to pick up the other son who also has basketball training tonight.
Luckily last years Mother’s Day gift from my daughter was a cute travel mug which I plan on taking along with me tonight. I think a nice steaming cup of tea is just what is in order.
