Melbourne Star

Today I was again reminded just what a beautiful city Melbourne really is, and how lucky I am to live here.

I spent the day with my family enjoying the sights our of city from high up in the sky on The Melbourne Star.

It was so picturesque seeing all the landmarks from up above. We all loved it, parents, kids and grandkids, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting this beautiful city.

Sorrento

It’s Australia Day tomorrow and I am kind of excited!! I’m spending the day with my family, we are going to the sea side town of Sorrento, which is located on the Mornington peninsula in Victoria.
I haven’t been to Sorrento in years and my children have never been, despite it only being an hour or so away. So tomorrow will be extra fun because we are going all together with mum and dad and my brother and sister and the kids and hubby and I.

Sorrento is also home to the worlds best Vanilla Slice, or so I’m told. Guess I’ll have to confirm that tomorrow.

Happy Australia Day!!

19 Sleeps till Christmas

Now that the birthday celebrations are over its time to start preparing for Christmas!!

Step 1 put up the Xmas tree and decorate the house – Check

Step 2 plan the Xmas lunch menu -Check

Step 3 Xmas gift shopping – well I’ve started but still have a long way to go so no check there, but in my defence there are still 19 sleeps till Xmas so plenty of time left. Plus it just wouldn’t feel right If I was too organised, that’s just not me. 😜😜😜

Greek Easter

You know what’s good about being Greek? Well lots of things actually, but today what’s great about bring Greek is that we get to celebrate Easter all over again!!!

Yep more chocolate, more yummy food, this time with Lamb and tsoureki, hard boiled eggs and koulourakia.
The celebration started last night at midnight mass, then it was back to mums for a very late supper only to return again at lunchtime for a traditional Greek Easter lunch.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter WordPress I hope everyone had a lovely day with family and friends. If you are lucky like me you get to do it all over again next week for Greek Easter.

For our family it was a double celebration, Easter and the twins birthday family celebrations – 13 is quite a milestone one that should be celebrated several times – at least we think so.

Friday at last

Another week is over!! This week was really a short week because of the Labour Day long weekend but there was a lot on and it felt a lot busier than normal too, which kind of makes me sigh in relief that weekend is here!!

What better way to celebrate a hectic week than with some down time with family. So tonight we hit beautiful Belgrave ( which is like a second home these days) and visited the old world charm Cameo cinema and watched the new Will Smith movie Focus.
I really enjoyed the movie it was fun and full of action, I would recommended it for anyone wanting to see a good film that’s fun and guaranteed to keep the boys happy not just the girls.
So happy weekend WordPress!!

Australia Day celebrations

Today was a lovely day with family celebrating Australia Day!!

The sun was shining and my sister prepared some traditional Aussie treats.

The champagne was flowing and we had a wonderful time as we always do when we are together.

Guess the only not so good thing is that it’s back to work tomorrow.

Yarra Glen Chocolaterie and Ice creamery.

IMG_2695.JPG

Part of my plan on spending some fun time with my children over this week that I have taken off from work, was a trip to the Yarra Glen Chocolaterie and Ice creamery. I had heard great things about this place which is situated in the picturesque Yarra Glen only 40 minutes almost straight run from where we live and was keen to see for myself what all the hype was about.

Although I did get some resistance at the start from my eldest who at the moment does not want to do anything with his family, I think in the end he too ended up having a good time.

We didn’t have the nice sunny weather but we were fortunate enough to miss the rain so were able to wander around and explore the beautiful grounds as well as the actual Chocolaterie.

Who would not be happy surrounded by all this yummy delicious creamy chocolate!! The kids loved the massive sample bowls and went back several times.

We finished off the day with a yummy Ice cream each which was just delicious and gigantic in size we sat outside on the deck overlooking the beautiful countryside, it was just lovely and I highly recommend it as a great day out for all.

School holidays- what happened to having fun??

I have taken a week off work to hang out with my kids over the school holidays and have some fun, but it seems that technology has captured my children and is holding them hostage, because aside from skyping with their friends and playing games on line they do not want to really do anything!!

We have arranged for some of their friends to come over for a sleepover Monday night and to spend the day with us on Tuesday, and we are catching up with some family friends on Friday but aside from that they really don’t want to do anything else.

I should be happy I guess that they enjoy being home but I can’t help feeling like they are missing out by locking themselves away like this. In a few weeks time school will resume again and the carefree days of the summer holidays will be but a distant memory, surely they must want to do more than this?

So tomorrow I have planned a fun filled day for us, and despite the looks of horror I received and the blatant lack of enthusiasm I am determined that we will have fun!!

Another Christmas over

Christmas is finally over what a relief!! Christmas Eve at mums was just lovely – I know I have probably already mentioned this before but I prefer Christmas Eve to Christmas Day and even though this year my gorgeous nephew was missing , we still had a wonderful night.

Christmas Day was wonderful too though, we got perfect weather and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. The food was plentiful – in fact we had so much left over that I won’t need to cook for the rest of the week. The turducken I am happy to report was surprisingly nice and moist and even though I couldn’t really taste the duck, the turkey and chicken was nice so was the stuffing. My brother in law took photos of the Turducken he was really impressed with it. Christmas Day finally came to an end at 9:30pm. I was exhausted but very happy.

I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas too.
