Time wasted

Going to the hairdresser is the most boring of experiences when you are a women it is literally 2 to 3 hours of sitting around doing nothing reading through old magazines or in my case playing on my phone.

There was a time not so long ago that I actually cherished this time away from home and the kids of course they were a lot younger then and it was literally the only chance I had to just sit and relax while someone else washed and colored my hair and transformed me into a prettier version of myself.

Nowadays though my children are older so I do have more time for me , more time to read a magazine or a good book if I like. Thus the 2 or three hours spent sitting around at the hairdresser are no longer a luxury but a necessity.

I still love the end product I just wish that I could walk in walk out and look fabulous without having so sacrifice so much of my day.

A change is as good as a holiday

A change is as good as a holiday, or so they say. Today I waltzed into the hairdresser and had my long unruly hair cut short again. It has been 4 years since I last had short hair so I was a bit apprehensive.

Last time I had my hair cut really short and bleached blonde it was for my fortieth birthday, my mid life crisis as I like to joke. Today was just because well this is the year of breaking out of my comfort zone so time to step up to the challenge.

New short hair cut looks and feels great!! I couldn’t be happier. Despite that fact that my son and nephew don’t really like it. Oh well you can’t please everyone. The hairdresser remarked that I looked surprisingly calm for someone who was making such a radical change. As I said to him, it’s only hair right?

I am really embracing this living out of my comfort zone thing, it is the most liberating thing I have undertaken for some time now.
