Harrowing experience

So I had a terrifying experience this morning at work. For those of you that have followed my blog for a while you will know that my biggest phobia is spiders.

Well this is what greeted me this morning when I went to my pigeon hole to get my stuff. Ewwwwwwwww!!

Unfortunately as the weather warms up the huntsmen will start making their appearance. Boy am I in trouble!!

Cat vision

There is nothing as terrifying as walking into a semi dark room and seeing your cat staring at something that you cannot see, but you know is definitely there and is probably something utterly terrifying like a spider or a bug or worse still a disgusting cockroach!!

I ate a fly

Oh My God the most disgusting thing happened to me! There I was minding my own business, casually collecting my washing off the clothesline, when my son called out for me to watch him take this awesome shot at the basketball ring. I swung around and went to say something when all of the sudden I felt a fly (sand fly I think) fly into my open mouth and get sucked straight into the back of my throat.

No matter how much or how hard I tried to cough it up I just couldn’t. In the end I had no choice but to swallow.

Last year a similar type of bug/ sand fly flew into my husbands ear just as we were coming out of an open for inspection house. At the time I gave the poor man so much grief about how on earth he’d managed to have this happen. But his ordeal pales in comparison to mine, let’s face it.

What I can’t understand is just how bad these bugs eyesight must be for them to get their landing so so wrong.

I feel like the old lady that swallowed a fly now – perhaps I’ll die.

Creepy crawlies

I have a phobia if spiders and bugs and creepy crawlies in general and unfortunately I have passed on this fear to my children. Yesterday the boys spotted a massive cockroach stuck in the air vent in their bedroom.

The logical thing to do would be to spray the cockroach with insecticide but we were so worried that it might drop on to the floor and then get lost in the bedroom that we just closed the door and left it there.

The boys slept on the couch, crazy I know but the alternative seemed scarier. This morning my brave husband went into the bedroom armed with a can of mortein and managed to kill the cockroach, so tonight the boys are back in their rooms.

Next mission the two daddy long legs spiders that have taken up residence in the toilet..
