Netflix and Chromecast

I’m loving Netflix at the moment, the only problem is I have been watching it on either my iPad or my phone which isn’t ideal, especially on the phone, so today my friend told me about this new little device called chrome cast, which is kind of like a cheap version of Apple TV, and lets you stream from your iPad or iPhone directly to your tv and my hubby brought it for me.

So now we have been watching Netflix on the big tv in the bedroom and it’s awesome!!

Thanks hubby 😊😊

Drive-in

Took my boys and some of Harry’s friends to the drive-in tonight to see Fast and Furious 7.

It had been a few years since we had last  been to a drive-in and I must admit I had forgotten how much fun they are.
We went in two cars and my brother and sister came along as well, so we were in one car and the boys in the other.
It was a bit hard to see from the back seat but it was still good and for those people with station wagon type cars it would have been really awesome.
Drive-in’s are a fun economical way for family’s to go to the movies.

Friday at last

Another week is over!! This week was really a short week because of the Labour Day long weekend but there was a lot on and it felt a lot busier than normal too, which kind of makes me sigh in relief that weekend is here!!

What better way to celebrate a hectic week than with some down time with family. So tonight we hit beautiful Belgrave ( which is like a second home these days) and visited the old world charm Cameo cinema and watched the new Will Smith movie Focus.
I really enjoyed the movie it was fun and full of action, I would recommended it for anyone wanting to see a good film that’s fun and guaranteed to keep the boys happy not just the girls.
So happy weekend WordPress!!

50 Shades of Grey

I went and saw 50 shades of Grey with the girls at the beautiful Cameo cinema on Saturday and despite all the negative reviews I enjoyed the movie. I enjoyed all the books as well, and yes the book is definitely better than the movie, but it was still good to see.

There was a lot of sex and they did show a lot more than what I was expecting they would especially since the movie was only rated M.

The whole night was really good, there was a photo booth with cool props, yummy cocktails, goodie bags, great company and a long awaited movie. A great girls night out for sure.

Could 2015 be the year of self discovery?

The girls and I saw The Wild with Reese Witherspoon tonight. This movie is based on a true story about one women’s quest to hike the Pacific Coast Trail.

I honestly didn’t know much of what the movie was about other than it was a movie about self discovery.

The movie was not our usual romcom girls night out but it was very good, sad and yet hopeful. I really recommend it.

So far this year seems to have a common theme, it’s in every book I seem to read, in the movies I watch and in my thoughts day and night.

There is no denying it life is changing, I’m am entering a new phase of my life and although at times it seems terrifying I have no choice but to go with it.

My horoscope for this year said and I quote “This new phase is about breaking free from the limitations of fear, darkness and insecurity.” It then goes on to say something about Saturn rocking my second house of values and how this will not only lift my self esteem but also my money making capacity (not that this has ever phased me before – can’t imagine it will now either).

I guess it will be interesting to see how 2015 pans out and if it will indeed be a year of self discovery. One thing is for sure I have no intention of finding my self by hiking as in tonight’s movie, the idea of ripping my toenails off or drinking disgusting water does not appeal to me at all.

Game of Thrones

I have started watching the Game of Thrones series and once you get past the horrific violence and the graphic sex, the story line is quite good.

There is friendship and honor, kings and knights, treason, incest and I’m only five episodes into the first season.

I wish I had read the books, books are always better than movies.

Smile it’s Friday

I love Fridays!!! No matter how many times I say it, it just won’t be enough. Fridays mean casual dress and lots of fun at work. Fridays mean takeaway food or going out for dinner. Catching up with friends and family. Fridays are homework free. There is wine on Friday nights and sometimes like tonight there is a romantic chick flick on. Friday brings with it the promise of a much coveted sleep In. What’s not to like? If I had things my way everyday would be Friday.

The Fault in Our Stars

Last night I saw the movie The Fault in Our Stars at the cinema with friends. I have not read John Green’s novel so was not really prepared for the movie. Aside from a few trailers that I had seen on the tv I didn’t really know what the movie would be about, I only knew that the main character was sick.

The Fault in Our Stars turned out to be a beautiful love story between two teenagers. It took me back to a time when young love was so powerful and felt destined to last for eternity.

It was definitely a tear jerker that’s for sure, but although sad, I found it to be a very positive movie, beautiful and touching.

I don’t want to give too much away it has only just come out here in Melbourne, but if you are looking for something good to see at the movies this week, then you really can’t go past The Fault in Our Stars, just make sure you take some tissues.

My son has a better social life than me!

My son has a better social life than me! This thought is going through my mind as I wait in the cinema foyer for him to come out of the new Spider-Man 2 movie he is watching with his friends. Not that I should really complain my social life is very full.

I use to be the kind of person who would pass up on opportunities to get out and have fun. I had this idealistic notion in my head that if my husband didn’t want to do something or go somewhere that I shouldn’t either.

The only problem is that my husband is a real home body he doesn’t want to do anything or go anywhere. He is truly happiest when he is home out on the deck doing his own thing.

It was very liberating when I finally made the conscious decision to go on with my life without him. Now when ever an opportunity presents I take it. I am doing more, having more fun, and I think my marriage is that much better off because of it.

Nowadays whenever my husband and I do go out it is because we both want to and not just because I am dragging him along someplace he does not want to go. So we inevitably end up having more fun.

There are times I know, that I wish he would want to do more with me, and I know there are times when he wishes I didn’t want to do as much but unfortunately that is life and as long as we maintain a nice balance I think we are both happy.

You shouldn’t have to give up the things you like just to be with someone, they should ultimately love you because of those things, because that is what makes you, you.

Captain America and the Winter Soldier

20140411-224331.jpg

Just got back from watching the new Marvel film Captain America and the winter soldier.

I have to admit that I am a big a Marvel fan, and I am an even bigger fan of Captain America. I mean who wouldn’t be? Captain America is kind, and brave and fair and loyal. He is all about helping others. He stands for truth and justice just like superman except that he is a soldier and I think that makes him extra super.

In this film there was a lot of action, lots of fighting, lots of stunts but there was also lots of comraderie, trust and friendship and strong bonds. This was a feel good movie where good triumphs over evil just as it should.

My boys enjoyed the movie as much as I did. It is a great film to take your kids too over the school holidays. I don’t want to give too much away but if you enjoy a good fast paced action packed movie then you will really like this film. Make sure you stay till the very end though so that you don’t miss out on not one but two secret endings.
