Back to reality

Can’t believe it’s Friday and another week is over! One more week and it’s back to reality!
I love school holidays, don’t get me wrong, but now that the kids are older, the summer holidays seem to go on and on. It’s been almost 10 weeks straight, that’s nearly a quarter of the year. No wonder they are getting bored! There is only so much sleeping in and playing video games or watching YouTube that any teenager can do.
They don’t know it yet, but all the lounging around is about to end! This coming week it’s back to set bed times, getting books and bags ready and getting ourselves back into the routine of it all.

It’s not going to be easy making the transition, but it’s got to be done.

But for now there is still the weekend to enjoy. Have a good one everyone!

Holiday mode

Another week has gone by and this holiday mode is still making things feel so excruciatingly slow! I know I’m going to regret feeling like I need this lull to be over – once school starts up again and all the kids extra curriculum activities kick in, I’ll be racing around non stop once again and no doubt longing for these slower days.
It’s just that this year holds so much promise that I can’t help being eager to get things rolling.

The weather isn’t helping either, typical Melbourne temperatures as inconsistent as ever, stinky hot one day and freezing cold wet and windy the next.

Thankfully it’s the weekend so at least we will get to have some fun for the next few days. Have a great weekend everyone.

Back to work tomorrow

My mini break is over and it’s back to work for me tomorrow. Even though the kids did not want to do as much with me as I had hoped, I have enjoyed my time at home with them all the same.

It will be interesting to see how I wake up tomorrow at 6am after a week of sleeping in.

Yarra Glen Chocolaterie and Ice creamery.

Part of my plan on spending some fun time with my children over this week that I have taken off from work, was a trip to the Yarra Glen Chocolaterie and Ice creamery. I had heard great things about this place which is situated in the picturesque Yarra Glen only 40 minutes almost straight run from where we live and was keen to see for myself what all the hype was about.

Although I did get some resistance at the start from my eldest who at the moment does not want to do anything with his family, I think in the end he too ended up having a good time.

We didn’t have the nice sunny weather but we were fortunate enough to miss the rain so were able to wander around and explore the beautiful grounds as well as the actual Chocolaterie.

Who would not be happy surrounded by all this yummy delicious creamy chocolate!! The kids loved the massive sample bowls and went back several times.

We finished off the day with a yummy Ice cream each which was just delicious and gigantic in size we sat outside on the deck overlooking the beautiful countryside, it was just lovely and I highly recommend it as a great day out for all.

School holidays- what happened to having fun??

I have taken a week off work to hang out with my kids over the school holidays and have some fun, but it seems that technology has captured my children and is holding them hostage, because aside from skyping with their friends and playing games on line they do not want to really do anything!!

We have arranged for some of their friends to come over for a sleepover Monday night and to spend the day with us on Tuesday, and we are catching up with some family friends on Friday but aside from that they really don’t want to do anything else.

I should be happy I guess that they enjoy being home but I can’t help feeling like they are missing out by locking themselves away like this. In a few weeks time school will resume again and the carefree days of the summer holidays will be but a distant memory, surely they must want to do more than this?

So tomorrow I have planned a fun filled day for us, and despite the looks of horror I received and the blatant lack of enthusiasm I am determined that we will have fun!!

Last day of primary school

Today was the last day of primary school for my twins. As of next year they will be heading off to high school embarking on the next phase of their lives.

The future is exciting and filled with so many possibilities. All I could think of was how it had felt waking them into the school on their first day of prep. How excited they had been and how nervous, it’s like we have come full circle in 6 weeks I will be waking them into high school. How quickly the time has passed.

To signify the end of the year, the school hosted an all school assembly and all the Grade 6 children got to stand up the front and perform their grade 6 graduation song which this year was Justice Crew’s Que Sera.

There were many tears shed, mainly by the mums.

Grade 6 ended with a bang at the after party where the kids got to sing and dance and take lots of selfies.

School holidays are over.

Can’t believe the school holidays are over and term 4 is here. Everyone knows that the last term seems to just fly by, before we know it another school year will be over and my babies will be moving on to high school. I don’t know whether I should be happy or sad, scared or elated.

The idea of having three teenagers under the same roof does scare me I must admit, I mean one teenager is hard enough, but I know that the twins are ready for the next phase of their lives and you know what, so am I.

So here’s to the last term of primary school, here’s to the end of an era and the beginning of a new one.

Another week over

It’s funny how quickly times flies when you are having fun, and how it just seems to drag during the week when it’s all work and school.

Well our mini family holiday is over which means it’s back to work for me tomorrow, and even though I am one of those people that actually enjoy their job, I can’t say I’m really looking all that forward to going back.

It has been so lovely not having to worry about waking up early, or cooking or cleaning, the last 6 days have really just been about having fun, relaxing and soaking up the sun.

Alas though all good things must come to an end, and today in preparation of the week ahead I spent the majority of my day catching up on the laundry. Thankfully the weather here in Melbourne has been warm and windy, perfect washing weather. I’m relaxing now with a pre dinner drink, taking a moment to go over all that I have to do this coming week.

Fortunately it’s still school holidays and lucky for me, my husband has the week off, so hopefully he will be able to entertain the kids while I am at work.

What is even better still, is that dinner has been taken care of tonight. We had the family over yesterday for a BBQ while we watched the Grand Final Aussie Rules footy game so leftovers it is tonight. Hope everyone in the blogosphere had a wonderful weekend.

Last day in Ulladulla

Last day at Ulladulla, and even though the weather has not been as lovely as it has the past few days, we still managed to have a great time. We played squash for the first time ever, can’t believe how tiring it is, we hit the spa again, had lunch at the golf club, and finished off the day at Funland which is a kids paradise. All in all it has been a wonderful mini vacation, the kids have had fun and so have we. It will be nice to go home to hubby and all my pets, and from what I hear Melbourne is due for some lovely warm weather so feeling very happy. 🙂

Ulladulla – Day 2

Day 2 at Ulladulla has been action packed. We woke up bright and early and spent the day enjoying the glorious sunshine. We visited the town centre. Played tennis, and pool. The kids swam in the swimming pool while we relaxed nearby sunning ourselves and enjoying the serenity. We had a beautiful lunch at the Golf club at Mollymook overlooking the ocean. Then came back and had more fun, more tennis, more swimming, table tennis and finished off with a glorious soak in the spa. It doesn’t get better than this. 🙂
