Last day of primary school

Today was the last day of primary school for my twins. As of next year they will be heading off to high school embarking on the next phase of their lives.

The future is exciting and filled with so many possibilities. All I could think of was how it had felt waking them into the school on their first day of prep. How excited they had been and how nervous, it’s like we have come full circle in 6 weeks I will be waking them into high school. How quickly the time has passed.

To signify the end of the year, the school hosted an all school assembly and all the Grade 6 children got to stand up the front and perform their grade 6 graduation song which this year was Justice Crew’s Que Sera.

There were many tears shed, mainly by the mums.

Grade 6 ended with a bang at the after party where the kids got to sing and dance and take lots of selfies.

Sweet Christmas Surprise

I received a Christmas card today from my dear fiend and fellow blogger, Elaine from foodbod. It was such a lovely surprise ,so unexpected and just so lovely and sweet just like Elaine herself.

I feel so privileged to have made such wonderful friends on WordPress, everyone has been so welcoming, so encouraging, it’s like we are all united in this little world of ours.

With Christmas only 8 sleeps away I want to take this moment to acknowledge all the things that I am so grateful for, my children, my family, my husband, my pets, my friends, my colleagues and every single person that I have had the honour of meeting on WordPress. Thank you all for making my life so wonderful, I truly am a very lucky woman to have you all in my life.

A jar full of happiness

IMG_2595.JPG

I saw this on Pintrest the other day and thought what a wonderful idea!!

A jar full of happy memories that you can look back on and relive all over again!!

Next year is going to be a good year I can just sense it!! My babies are starting high school, Georgie is going to be in year 10, hopefully he will get a job and will also be getting his learners permit, Stephen and I along with my brother and sister are planning a wonderful holiday overseas to gorgeous Italy, my nephew will be going to the university of his choice to study, we have two 50th birthdays and a sweet sixteen. There will be plenty of opportunities to fill that jar to the brim with good memories. I can hardly wait to get started.

Only 23 sleeps till Christmas!!!!

30 sleeps till Christmas

30 sleeps till Christmas!! I am finally starting to feel a buzz, finally starting to plan the Christmas lunch menu, finally getting myself into gear to brave the shops and the crowds and start my Christmas shopping.

It has taken longer to get into the spirit of Christmas this year. It has been a busy year and there have been many ups and downs.

I can’t help feeling sad for my dear dear friend who lost her husband in June and is still struggling to come to terms with his loss. I know that Christmas time will not be easy for her or her family.

Christmas can also be a lonely time for anyone who has recently gone through a relationship break up like a few of my friends have this year.

My gorgeous nephew is going overseas to visit the other half of his family so Christmas won’t be the same without him this year.

Finally my children have grown so much and are at an age now where the magic of Christmas is no longer as strong as it was when they were younger and still believed in Santa Claus.

But Christmas time is still about giving, it’s about family and love. This may not have been the easiest year, that doesn’t mean that there isn’t a lot to be thankful for though.

So let the countdown begin.

Another year older

Another year older, I would like to be able to say wiser, but somehow I don’t think so, I may be forty five now but I still feel like I did twenty years ago, of course I wish I still looked the same but alas no. I spent the day celebrating my birthday with the people I love most in the world, my family. The sun was shining, everyone was relaxed and happy, there was champagne and nice food, what more could a girl possibly ask for?

I have really been thoroughly spoilt with many beautiful birthday messages and presents from my amazing friends and extended family. My mum outdid herself again and made me the most decadent chocolate birthday cake, unfortunately we were all too full to enjoy it, but I’m sure tomorrow the girls at work will be happy when I take in left over cake to share.

In a perfect world

Oh the never ending saga of cleaning the house only to have it all messed up again in a short few hours!!!

In a perfect world you would only ever need to do housework once a week and the house would stay impeccably cleaned tidy for the full seven days.

In a perfect world the dishes would miraculously find their way into the dishwasher and not on the kitchen bench. In a perfect world the laundry basket would always be empty, dust would never gather and all the pets hair would stick to the pets and not the furniture. The kids rooms would be tidy and the beds always made.

Thank god we do not live in a perfect world, I may at times grizzle and complain that the housework is never ending but truth be told I wouldn’t have it any other way. Would you?

Last day in Ulladulla

Last day at Ulladulla, and even though the weather has not been as lovely as it has the past few days, we still managed to have a great time. We played squash for the first time ever, can’t believe how tiring it is, we hit the spa again, had lunch at the golf club, and finished off the day at Funland which is a kids paradise. All in all it has been a wonderful mini vacation, the kids have had fun and so have we. It will be nice to go home to hubby and all my pets, and from what I hear Melbourne is due for some lovely warm weather so feeling very happy. 🙂

So much to be thankful for

Today I am thankful for many things. I am happy that I have my beautiful
little car back and it looks better than ever, in fact it looks brand new again. (Unfortunately this shiny clean look won’t last long knowing my kids, but for today I am happy to have it back).

I am thankful that it is Friday which means the working week is over and it’s time to enjoy quality time with family and friends.

I’m thankful that the freak hail and storms seem to be behind us and the sunshine is back for the weekend.

I guess the only thing I am not thankful for is Telstra – our telephone and internet provider. We have been without a phone line and most importantly without internet access since Monday and it really is driving us a little batty, the kids are fighting more because they are bored and my iphone has already used over half it’s allocated monthly usage something that never ever happens.

Still I’m thankful that I have my iphone so I can still read all the blogs I enjoy so much.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.
