Need to get motivated

Well it’s Sunday night again here in exceptionally chilly Melbourne and even though I had a relatively quiet weekend planned, I still didn’t manage to do any writing. Arrrggghh

For some reason I just wasn’t at all productive this weekend. Maybe it’s cause I’m fighting a cold, and feel a bit tired, or it could just be because it was sooo cold, I’m sure I could come up with many more excuses if I tried.

The weekend was not a total waste though, I did manage to rearrange my boys bedroom, and make the most awesome dish that the gorgeous talented Elaine from Foodbod shared and it was just delicious! And I completed the 30 day Facebook Ab challenge.

So all in all it was not a bad weekend, unfortunately I will need to get motivated to get back to writing, my column is due on the 11th July so I have less than two weeks to put it all together, but it is school holidays now which means a lot less running around and a lot more time for writing. Have a great week everyone 😊😊

Not looking forward to this coming week

One of the community newspapers that I write for has been going through some hard times lately, and the decision to pull the pin and give up looks like the only alternative at this stage.

We have gone from a production team of 7 down to 3, and if I was to be totally honest, it really is only 2 people doing most of the work.

It’s not enough that we can’t find help with the content and formatting, but we are really having a big issue in getting any sponsorship.

Most months we are lucky if we can cover our printing costs. It is only due to a small grant that we received last year that we have been able to hang in there as long as we have.

When asked how important a community newspaper is to the local area, most people agree that it is invaluable, but when it comes to putting our money where our mouth is I guess that’s a whole different story.

It’s sad to see something you have loved and worked so hard on fold, but at this point I really can’t see any alternative.

This week is going to be full of meetings and emotions will be running high, I may need to stock up on chocolate to help me get through, of course if chocolate fails to help there is always wine right?

Inspiration is all around us

Who would have thought that the foyer of a movie cinema would hold so much inspiration.

As I sit patiently waiting for my teenage son to come out of the movie he is seeing with his friends, I watch people as they come and go.

There are single dads with little kids in tow. Happy Families . Love struck teenagers with their hands entwined. A group of rowdy mates . An older couple that doesn’t look all that happy. Girlfriends ready for the latest chick flick. A handful of giggling teenage girls. Each person has a story to tell, and I am loving just sitting there imagining what that is.

If anyone is ever in need of some inspiration for a novel,or struggling with character development, then get yourself down to your local cinema, this place is inspiration personified.
